    Realignment of the Hermes Executive Board

    Hermes Logistik Gruppe Deutschland (HLGD) and Hermes Transport Logistics (HTL) will now be led by a common Executive Board. Frank Iden and Frank Rausch, who until now have been respectively responsible for the individual businesses will, with immediate effect, preside over the board as joint CEO. The aim of this is to bring the market presence and sales approach of the two independently acting companies into closer alignment. Also appointed as Members of the Executive Board are Olaf Schabirosky and Thomas Horst, both of whom are taking over newly created departments.

    Plotting course: Hermes set to invest 300 million euros in its logistics systems

    Hermes is looking to modernise its logistics infrastructure of its German parcel unit and will be investing around 300 million euros by 2018. With new locations, and customer-focussed services, the company is preparing for further growth and the boom in e-commerce. As part of the process, Hermes is looking to establish itself as a partner for small and medium enterprises (SME). Consequently, Hermes is planning to restructure its logistics network into 35 highly-efficient, optimally located logistics centres set up to process over 400 million parcels annually.

    New heights of success: Hermes revenues exceed two billion euros for the first time

    For the first time in its corporate history, Hermes posted revenues of over two billion euros for the 2013 financial year. In doing so, the Hamburg-based company continued its growth path of previous years into a tenth successive year. With its twelve subsidiaries providing retail-related and logistics services, Hermes grew total revenues by 8 percent to 2,083 million euros, up on the 1,928 million euros in 2012. They largely came from European parcel delivery services, which, with 496 million shipments, were about 10 percent higher than in the previous year. On the highly competitive German market, Hermes is now driving forward increased cooperation between market participants in the interests of the consumer. The positive trend was accompanied by 700 new jobs. Hermes now employs 11,814 permanent employees in over 20 countries.

    Hermes Supports Cotton made in Africa

    The Hermes Logistik Gruppe Germany (HLGD) is the cotton initiative's Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) newest partner. Since November, the company expects to outfit its 13,000 parcel delivery staff in Germany with cotton made according to the environmental and social standards of Cotton made in Africa. Hermes and CmiA will thus support around 475,000 CmiA cotton farmers who produce the raw material on the African continent using sustainable methods.

    Hermes Transport Logistics GmbH (HTL) and Jeena & Company have agreed to expand their collaboration in sea & air freight. The two global logistics companies are looking to strengthen their networks, particularly in Germany and India. Jeena has been the Otto Group's logistics partner in India for about 30 years and has been collaborating with HTL in India since 2009. The aim is to jointly develop new business and provide clients from both companies with a premium service.
