Hermes displays excellence to scoop top award

Hermes, the consumer delivery specialist, is celebrating after the company secured a national award on Wednesday evening. The Morley-based company fought off tough competition to win in the Operational & Compliance Excellence category at the 2017 Motor Transport Awards, held at Grosvenor House in London.

The award recognises a company that manages the balancing act of running a profitable, safe, legal and efficient fleet of vehicles. Hermes’ operational team ensures the business remains proficient, profitable and compliant, whilst continuing to champion further improvements via major investment.

The judging panel was impressed after Hermes recorded Green ‘Operator Compliance Risk Scores’ (OCRS) across all areas, whilst the MOT pass rate during 2016 was 96% for vehicles and 99% for trailers. Last year, the company also invested in an advanced tracking solution that highlights harsh braking, idle running and over revving. This data is being used by Hermes to train drivers and achieve a better MPG, so far equating to more than 130,000 miles saved.

Carole Woodhead, CEO of Hermes, said: “We are very proud to have won the Motor Transport Award for Operational & Compliance Excellence for the second time in four years. This is an incredibly important category for any transport or logistics provider to win, and I would like to congratulate our operations team for their continued hard work. We will continue to significantly invest in both our fleet and our network to ensure we continue to provide an exceptional level of service to our clients and their customers.”

Twelve months ago, Hermes’ Peak Planning & Delivery Team was named Team of the Year at the 2016 Motor Transport Awards.
